Learning together, growing together

Dragon Day

Dragon day was also the day of Chinese New Year so we found out about the Chinese dragon dance, and other customs to celebrate the new year.
Elaine the mad scientist came to show us some dragon type experiments like different coloured burning flames, an erupting volcano and she even made Mr Pickup fly!
In the classroom we had fun making dancing dragons and learning how to write Chinese numbers.  We made a huge dragon head and used this in our dragon dance.  To accompany our song we kept the beat with loud percussion instrumnets.  Oli brought us all a Fortune cookie - a special biscuit with a message inside, and we tasted some Chinese food too - but we used our fingers - not chopsticks!
