Free School Meals Vouchers

From Monday 6th April 2020 the Government have announced further measures to ensure all children entitled to a free school meal receive a £15 voucher to cover extra costs whilst at home during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We will be using a company called 'Edenred' who will provide a code via e-mail to all entitled, if you have no internet access school will place an order on your behalf, print vouchers for your chosen supermarket and will post them out.

We place an order on their system, they process this and e-mail out codes to be redeemed. Once this is done we are not able to access this order until they have fulfilled it and have found the system quite difficult to obtain access to with waiting rooms in place for Edenred and also to redeem your code.

You will receive a weekly e-mail via 'Edenred' and this will let you know how to redeem your code for free school meals. We have been in touch with all parents entitled to free school meals to ask for a valid e-mail address or which supermarket you would like if you don't have internet access. Please let Mrs Hogarth in the office know if you think you are entitled and we haven't been in touch.

You will receive a code via e-mail which then needs to be copied and pasted into the following site https://www.selectyourcompliment.co.uk/dfe. You will then need to pick a supermarket of your choice, enter your details and your voucher will be e-mailed to you.

Each voucher is worth £15 per child and can be spent in the main 6 supermarkets and can only be spent on age appropriate items. Please note the vouchers cannot be used on any final shopping bill that contains any tobacco or alcohol products.

This system is new to all of us,including supermarkets so expect some teething problems. All of the schools in England are using this system and we expect it to be very busy come the 20th April. We will try to help where we can but bear in mind we may not be able to solve any problems straight away.

There is a parents FAQ document below, which should answer your questions.

Guidance for redeeming your e-code

Free school meal e-mails with voucher codes are now being sent out, please see guide above which should help you convert this into an e-gift card. Unfortunately we can't get onto the system ourselves to see how this works!

We will try our best to help where we can.

Thanks to Marie from St. John's Primary for the guide.

Please contact Mrs Hogarth in the school office Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm if you have any issues with either receiving or redeeming vouchers
