Hello Year 1!

Hope you have all had a lovely week! The weather this definitely made me smile the last few days and I've enjoyed some beautiful walks in the sunshine.

This week's theme is UK Staycation. Rather than travelling abroad for a holiday, more and more people will be looking closer to home this summer. Luckily, we have lots of great places to find out about! So, I hope you enjoy the activities this week and don't forget to share what you get up to on the Year 1 Class Blog.

Until next week,

Hello Year 1!

It was lovely to speak to most of you last week smiley I know you are all missing your friends but you've all been keeping busy which was great to hear. Just think of all the great stories you can tell your friends when we get back to school!

I have added some more links in the support pages on our Year 1 page which you can use alongside the work I have uploaded. I just want to say that you are all doing so well and please don't feel under any pressure to finish all of the work I set. Just keep reading, practising your phonics and rehearsing your basic skills on Lexia and Mathletics. Parents and carers - you're doing a fantastic job too! Don't forget, you can have a look at our Class Blog here and add photos and comments to let your friends know how you are doing.

This week our Learning Project is Kindness and Mindfulness - hope you enjoy working your way through the activities!

Hello Year 1!

Hope you are all well and have enjoyed the lovely weather we have had over the Bank Holiday weekend! This week's Learning Project is about Food from Around the World. I've really enjoyed researching the activities this week (even though it has made me very hungry!) so I hope you find them as interesting as I have. Any resources I mention can be found below as well as by following the link in the Learning Project PDF.

This week in Maths, we will be looking at time. When learning about time in Year 1 we look at sequencing events in chronological order using language like before, after, first, next, today, yesterday, tomorrow, morning, afternoon and evening so lots of discussion using this vocabulary is great. We also look at days of the week, months of the year and telling time to the hour and half past the hour. You will all be at different stages with telling the time so just keep practising these as often as possible.

Finally, keep sharing your comments and photos on the Class Blog, it's so lovely to be able to keep in touch with you all.

Keep smiling smiley

Hello Year 1!

Firstly, I want to say I have really enjoyed hearing from you on the Class Blog. It really brightens up my day seeing your smiling faces and finding out about what you have been getting up to. So please keep adding comments and photos to the blog if you can laugh

This week's Learning Project is all about the Earth and Environment. I know how much we like animals in Year 1 so there's lots of activities about different animals and how we can look after them. You can find the links to resources I mention under this message.

Check in 'Phonics Support' for a link to daily phonics sessions - these are great videos to help you practise the sounds in your workbooks in a bit more detail.

Last thing, don't forget to use Lexia and Mathletics. I can see lots of you are logging on and working your way through the levels. Well done!

Hello Year 1!

Hope you are all well and keeping each other smiling. This week's Learning Project is all about Newcastle and the River Tyne and there's lots of activities to keep you busy over the next week. I have also added a link to a website that is uploading daily phonics sessions here. Please take a look as these will help you to practise blending and segmenting. You might have seen we have set up a  Class Blog - click here to go straight to it. This is a place we can keep in touch. You can share all the wonderful work you have been doing or ask any questions you might have. Or just say hello! It would be lovely to hear from you, I'm missing seeing you all every day. So, until we can all be back together again, check in with the Class Blog to see what everybody is getting up to!

Until next week smiley

Hello Year 1!

Hope you have had a great Easter break and are enjoying time at home with your families. I have spent my time eating chocolate (yum!) and making the most of my one walk a day! I have discovered lots of new places near to where I live which has been lovely. I've been studying a map of my local area - there's woods, ponds, lakes and parks I never knew existed! This week's learning project is all about where YOU live. Have a go at the tasks I have set. Take your time with them and don't worry if you're not sure what to do at first. Just try your best and keep at it! Keep practising your letter and number formation, your phonics sounds and tricky words and read, read, read!

Can't wait to be back at school with you all,

Miss Phillips smiley
