Hello Year 5,

I hope you are all still well and have enjoyed the work I set last week based around Space.  Did you find out any interesting facts?  Please get in touch via the Class Blog to let me know what you've been getting up to over the last few weeks.

This week's learning project is the final project of the academic year and that is why it is called Endings and Beginnings.  It will be based around memories of the year and your wishes and goals for the future.  I hope you enjoy the activities I have set.  Please post any pictures onto the class blog letting me know you favourite memories of the year, what you have enjoyed learning about and what you hope to achieve in Year 6.

Take care Year 5,

Mrs Gill

Hi Year 5,

It was lovely to speak to you on the phone last week to see how everyone was doing.  It was lovely to hear that you are all still working as well as enjoying the beautiful weather we have had recently.  It was lovely to hear you voices!  If you couldn't answer my call, please feel free to ring school and I'll have a chat with you.  I hope you enjoyed completing last week's learning project all about sport.  I am still trying to stay active by completing a Joe Wicks workout every day!  Please let me know (via the Year 5 Class Blog) what you've been doing to stay active while you've been at home.

This week's learning project is based on 'Famous and Significant People'.  I hope you enjoy completing the activities.  Please write to me on the class blog to let me know who you have decided to research and write about.  Who inspires you?

Wk beg: 4th May 2020 - The Earth and the environment

Hi Year 5,

I hope you're all safe and well.

First of all, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has logged onto the Year 5 Class Blog.  It has been lovely to hear from you and find out what you have been doing.  Please keep logging on and sharing pictures and stories of what you've been getting up to.  Seeing your smiling faces always makes me smile!

The Times Table Rockstars Battle has been great this week so well done to everyone who has taken part.  The teachers are just ahead as I write this so we'll just have to wait and see who the winners will be.  Watch out for future battles - I will post about them on the Year 5 Class Blog.  Please continue to keep working on Lexia, Mathletics and TT Rockstars.  I can see that some of you have been very busy on this - keep it up!  smiley

This week's learning project is titled: The Earth and the Environment.  I hope you have fun completing the activities. Please post some of your work onto the blog as it is lovely to see what you have been creating/writing/drawing...  Just click here for the Year 5 Class Blog.

There are new NCETM videos following on from last week's work in the 'Maths Support' section of the website so please take a look as this will hopefully help you with your understanding of fractions.  The steps are small and the videos are easy to follow with lots of pictures to help visualise the problem.

If there is anything you are finding tricky or that you don't understand, please get in touch via the Blog and I will do my best to help.

Take care

Mrs Gill
