Mrs Fiona Peters
Thank you for taking an interest in my work on the Governing Body of Newburn Manor Primary School. I have been a Governor Associate and member of the Forward Planning, Admissions, Finance and Premises Sub-Committee for a number of years now.
I attended Newburn Manor as a child, as did my parents and my own children, and I appreciate how the school has served the community for at least 130 years and continues to thrive today, having adapted and changed over the years to serve the needs of today's local children and families.
I worked in the NHS for over 16 years, starting out as a clerical officer for a couple of years before becoming a medical secretary. Following that, I have worked in education - two years as an administrator at Northumbria University (at the North East Centre for Playwork Education and Training) before joining Newburn Manor in 2005 as a support assistant working in classes across the school. My interests include drama/theatre, music, crafting and keeping up to date with all the latest children's literature - in fact anything that involves creativity, which I am very keen to promote in school. Working alongside the other members of the Governing Body, I will always endeavour to support the school in providing the best opportunities for the children's education, well-being and future success.
