Learning together, growing together

t1a What we are learning this half term

We began the year immersing ourselves in the magical picture book ‘Leon and the place between’.  The Y4 classroom door is decorated to represent the opening setting so the children really feel as if they are ‘stepping into the characters’ shoes’.  Our amazing writing will be on display in the corridor.

For the rest of this half term, our main cross-curricular topic is 'It's all Greek to me!'  We will enjoy reading myths in English and try writing the Greek alphabet.  We will look at the geography of Greece and the legacy of the Ancient Greeks in history.

In maths, we will be counting and partitioning 4-digit numbers then using column addition/ subtraction to solve problems.  It is very important that we aim to know all the times tables to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4!
In science, we are learning about ‘Sound’ with Mr Vyle.  On Wednesdays, we will be learning French, with Mrs Davies, beginning with ‘Les couleurs’, while on Fridays, Mr Vyle is teaching us computing.
