Year Group work during school closure
School is now closed for most pupils. During this time, please encourage your child to continue their learning. Reading is a vital skill and is something children enjoy doing on a daily basis. We have provided your child with an exercise book for the school closure that will have some pre-populated work for the first few days. This web page will be updated regularly by your child's class teacher with other tasks that can be completed independently or together.
The most recent scientific advice on how to limit the spread of COVID-19 is clear. If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading.
That is why the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open for those children who absolutely need to attend. Please note that government published guidance FAQ states that “many parents working in these critical sectors may be able to ensure that their child is kept at home. Every child who can be safely cared for at home should be”.
To ensure that we are only having the smallest number of children in school necessary, in order to limit the spread of the virus, we will be asking for you (if sole parent) or both parents to provide evidence of:
a) your current job role, and
b) your working schedule.
If, after considering all of the above, you qualify and need provision then you must telephone the school office and speak to a member of the school's leadership team:
Mr Pickup - Head Teacher
Mrs Gill - Deputy Head Teacher
Mrs Tait - Year 6 Teacher
Mrs Hogarth - School Business Manager
I must stress that NO parent should turn up at school with their child unless they have spoken to a member of the leadership team AND have been formerly offered a place. If you have already contacted us we have your information recorded. This is due to the fact that we will be open between the hours of 8.45 am and 3.05 pm operating with a reduced staff in order to keep our employees safe.
Please be reminded that if your child or member of your family shows any symptoms of a continuous cough or high temperature then the whole family must self-isolate for 14 days as per the government guidelines. Those already in self-isolation must complete the mandatory 14 days.
From Monday, 23 March 2020, packed lunches are to be made up at school for everyone who is entitled to a free school meal. These will be able to be picked up from school between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm from the main entrance. If you are unable to collect from school during these times, please contact us before 11 am on Monday, when we will endeavour to make other arrangements.
