Art Week 

Year 5 have had a fantastic week learning and developing a variety of printing techniques, using different mediums and creating collages and art work based on those studied. They have learned about William and May Morris and have enjoyed using the natural environment to create and improve their designs. 

We created our own portraits and art work based on our class novel, 'Wonder'. 

WWF Zoom 

We took part in a zoom about protecting the rainforest. We have been learning about rainforests in Geography this year and could talk about lots of facts and layers of the rainforest, sustainability, animals of the rainforest, where food comes from and much more! We had a workshop with an illustrator and enjoyed learning some sketching techniques also. 

Wonder 

Year 5 have been enjoying reading , 'Wonder', by R J Palacio as our class text. We have written poetry, recounts and reports. Ask us what a precept is. 

We completed our books and evaluated our mechanisms and designs. 

Using layers and sliders 

We started to make our books using a variety of layers and sliders and lever mechanisms. We designed our front covers and created a blurb. 

Pop up Books!

In DT, we have enjoyed exploring pop up books and learning about the different mechanisms used. We had fun comparing and discussing the different books and topics and stories they showed. We designed our own book for Year One children and planned which mechanisms we would use.
