School Council

School Councillors 2018 - 2019

We are very pleased to have elected our new School Councillors for this academic year.  They will represent their class during School Council meetings throughout the year.

Fake and Bake Sale

As part of our school council duties, we decided to create an initiative in school for reading. Each class is trying to read as many books as possible to try and win the trophy at the end of the year. Our bake sale raised £206! We were ecstatic with the effort all of our families put in and we had so much support from the whole school. The money will be spent on the winning class who will choose a new set of books for their class in September.

We encourage everyone to have a voice. All pupils can approach their school council member to promote their good ideas. Each Year Group elects two members to represent them at each school council meeting. The pupils discuss school issues as well as introduce new initiatives such as our half termly ‘Golden Table’ for pupils that demonstrate exemplary manners.

Our School Councillors

Congratulations to our elected School Councillors from Years 1 - 6.  They will represent the views of pupils at all School Council meetings during the academic year 2017 - 2018.

Eco-Schools Visit

Our School Councillors were wonderful ambassadors for the school when they welcomed Mr Alistair Wilson for a tour of the school and grounds, as he considered our application for renewal of our Eco-Schools Green Flag award.  We were later delighted when Mrs Dooley, our Eco-Schools Co-ordinator, told us that our application had been successful!

More Food Tasting

The School Council were asked to do some more food testing for Newcastle City Council.  They tasted a variety of new dishes for all of the schools in Newcastle.  The children tried different food and gave their feedback to say whether or not they liked it.  They really enjoyed tasting the different things and gave honest feedback.

Food Tasting

The School Council had great fun doing a food test for our school menu.  They tried two different sausages and had to say which they preferred.  Overall 'Sample 1' was the most popular.  Every school in Newcastle will now get this sensational sausage for their school lunch.
