Year 5

We started the week by looking at different pieces of Still Life artwork and gave our opinions about them. Composition is a key part of Still Life.  We spent a lot of time practising our drawing skills by drawing different arrangements and creating our own compositions.

A lot of the class had picked the Still Life sweets as their favourites so we decided to work on our skill of drawing sweets. We practised drawing a jelly bean accurately before using oil pastels to create a smooth surfaced jelly bean with different tones.

We created our own compositions of sweets to practise our still life drawing skills.  However, it was difficult to resist eating them!

We then drew one individual sweet that we liked and focused on the different tones we could see.  The results were great.  We combined our work together to make a class Still Life of sweet treats.
