Art Week and Exhibition

Take One Picture

Each year the National Gallery holds a competition for primary schools to win the opportunity to display their work at the Gallery.  The schools all look at the same picture as a starting point and then follow their own line of enquiry to produce original artwork.  This year's painting was A Roman Triumph (about 1630) by Peter Paul Rubens.

At Newburn Manor Primary School, children in each class studied a different part of the painting and used this as a stimulus to produce some stunning artwork during a week-long project, which they presented in a whole school assembly at the end of the week.  We also held an art exhibition and invited parents and friends to come along and find out more about the project and see our artwork.  Please take a look at our photos!
