History
History curriculum vision statement
Newburn Manor's history curriculum aims to inspire our pupils' natural curiosity to know more about the past. We believe history helps children to understand the process of change, the diversity of societies, the complexity of motivations, actions and behaviours of individuals and civilisations as well as developing the appreciation of their own identity and the challenges of their time.
Our history curriculum aims to equip the pupils with the knowledge and (transferrable) skills to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, explore continuity and change as well as developing perspective and judgement.
Through the purposeful teaching of history and the development of a culture of resourcefulness, investigation and problem solving we want to equip pupils with the skills set needed to think for themselves in a modern world.
