Summer

Edinburgh Day 3

We had lovely weather today which was great because we had a day outdoors planned.  We took the coach to catch the Maid of Forth ferry this morning. This took us on a sightseeing tour and then gave us some time on Inchcolm Island to explore. The Abbey was great for exploring. The children  enjoyed climbing the tower for the great views and took advantage of the amazing acoustics in the Chapter House for an impromptu singing session.

After our ferry back to the coach we headed to the beach for an hour of icecreams, slushies and some time to play on the sand. A particular highlight was seeing the Red Arrows flying overhead on their way to the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.

We had another fantastic meal this evening, this time in Vittoria on the Bridge. After our evening meal we got ready for our ghost tour of Edinburgh. This included a walk around the city including the graveyard and underground too! A very busy day!

Edinburgh Day 2

A rainy day in Edinburgh today but that didn't dampen our spirits. We started the day with a walk up to Edinburgh Castle. It was very busy but we enjoyed a concert in the Great Hall where we found out about medieval instruments and got to hear a variety of pieces of music being played. We then headed down to Dynamic Earth which is a Science museum full of interactive displays, a 3D cinema and a planetarium to name just a few of the highlights. This evening we headed to our second restaurant which was another success. We finished the day with a walk to Arthur's Seat via Holyrood Palace. We didn't get to the top but we enjoyed the walk and the views of Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Residential Day 1

A brilliant first day in Edinburgh. The class enjoyed visiting The Real Mary King's Close to find out about life in Edinburgh in the past and how they dealt with the plague and other ghastly diseases. They also enjoyed a fantastic meal at Pizza Express followed by an evening stroll up Calton Hill. A busy first day in the city with lots more to explore over the coming days... watch this space.

Hoopstarz came into school to teach us how to improve our hula hooping skills.

Year 6 had a very informative morning at a work experience fair.

We visited the Whin Sill in Northumberland where we took in a 'Geology Rocks' workshop before climbing up the Sill.
