Skipping Fitness

Today the class took part in a skipping challenge with Dave from Skip2bfit.  The whole class (including Mrs Gill) had to skip for 2 minutes and see how many skips they managed to do.  Dave talked to the class about perseverance and that practise makes you better so it doesn't matter what your score is, you just need to work on improving that.  Everyone showed great determination and it was lovely to see.  After Easter we will practise skipping for 2 minutes every day to see if we can improve our score.  Everyone has been given a set of skipping ropes to keep in school that will count the skips too!  Keep practising your skipping over the holidays Year 5!  You can do it!

An Egg-cellent Afternoon

Today we had a fantastic afternoon decorating eggs in class.  Everyone had their own idea for how they wanted to decorate their egg and the class worked hard all afternoon on their design.  Here are some photos of the final results...

Ready, set, go...

This week Mrs Ginnes was back in school to go over the best technique to use when sprinting.  We looked at the placement of our feet and arms and how to build up the best technique.

Athletics with Mrs Ginnes

This week we started some athletics sessions with Mrs Ginnes.  We focused on throwing this week and used shuttlecocks to practise our over arm throwing.  By the end of the lesson our aim was definitely improving after we followed Mrs Ginnes' top tips for accurate throwing.  Over the next few weeks we will look at jumping and running skills too.

A Place called Perfect  - or is it?

This week we have enjoyed reading more of 'A Place called Perfect' in class.  We have talked about Perfect and created 'job adverts' for George and Edward Archer to recruit new children to the town.  Take a look at some of the examples from our class below...  Would it persuade you to join the community of Perfect?

Back to School again

Year 5 have settled back into the school routine quickly.  We have continued reading our class novel: A Place called Perfect and the class have loved it so far.  They are always desperate for me to read on with the book and always have things to discuss about the events.  I look forward to seeing some great writing from this book.  Watch this space...
