Mr Stuart Pickup

My name is Stuart Pickup. I have been Head Teacher at Newburn Manor Primary School since September 2017. Prior to this I had worked at schools in my home town of Stockton-on-Tees, before being lucky enough to take the role of Deputy Head Teacher at Newburn Manor in 2010. As ex-officio, I sit on the Curriculum and Pupil Progress and the Forward Planning, Admissions, Finance & Premises Committees.

I was very proud to take the role of Head Teacher, following a great time spent working alongside Mrs McFadyen, our previous Head. The school has always had a fabulous family ethos and the staff and pupils make it a wonderful place to place to work. All of our pupils are ambassadors for Newburn Manor and make each day a pleasure to come to school.  

Before teaching, I spent time as a Geotechnical Engineer, working for companies based in Newcastle, and maintain a keen interest in geology and geoscience. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my own family, taking hikes and bike rides around the local area.
