Learning together, growing together

Autumn

Welcome Back!

Autumn A - Week 1

Year 2 have had a fantastic first week back after the holidays. They have hit the ground running and been doing some awesome writing all about themselves and enjoyed their first science lesson! The whole class have begun the year with a fantastic attitude and I can't wait to see how much they progress over the next academic year.

Friendly?

Autumn A - Week 2

This week, in our PSHE lesson, Year 2 have been discussing what it means to be a good friend. Lots of their ideas were focused on kindness and helpfulness. Take a look at them sorting friendly and unfriendly behaviours.

Winning Attitudes

Autumn A - Week 3

In school this week, all classes have been given trophies. These awards will be given out weekly across different lessons to highlight those pupils who have been working extra hard and showing a fantastic attitude to learning. Take a look at this week's winners.

This week we had awards for;

- commitment to reading at home

- mastering using part-whole models for representing numbers.

- giving excellent scientific explanations for uses of properties.

- some fantastic writing based on Samuel Peyps's diary

- having a great ear when finding the pulse of the music in our lesson this week.

Super job! I can't wait to see who wins next week.

A Trip to Remember!

Autumn A - Week 5

We have been lucky enough to visit The Discovery Museum this week! We really enjoyed taking part in workshops about The Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead. We had fun identifying Victorian artefacts, making sounds from the fire and creating puppets based on the people who were there. Here are some pictures from our trip!

Harvest Time

Autumn A - Week 6

This week, we performed our much loved 'Cauliflowers Fluffy' for our Harvest celebration! We loved doing it so much and the song is still stuck in most of our heads! Check out the video in the video library.

Floral Designs

Autumn A - Week 7

Our afternoons have been filled with Art this week. We explored shade and tone, investigated Georgia O'Keefe and did still life drawings of flowers in her style. Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed their first Art block this year.

Fireworks in School?!

Autumn B - Week 1

Year 2 were treated to a virtual firework display in class! Our classroom was completely dark, except for the light show we watched. Mrs Merrix and Mrs Newton made us hot chocolates with marshmallows and cream! We were so inspired that we wrote poems all about fireworks - they were brilliant!

Multi-Skills in P.E

Autumn B - Week 2

Caroline has started to come in to school on Tuesday's to teach us P.E. We are working on movement. We had so much fun moving in different ways and playing the games Caroline had planned for us.

Making Hot Chocolates

Autumn B - Week 3

Acts of Kindness

Autumn B - Week 4

Our PSHE unit is all about relationships and this week, we discussed how we can be a good friend. Kindness is something that came through again and again as we shared ideas and so we made kindness flowers. You can tear off a petal that has kind words and give it to someone as a random act of kindness!

3D Maps

Autumn B - Week 5

In geography, we are learning about The Poles. This week, we learned about the landscape of Antarctica and made 3D maps to show our understanding. We used a range of maps as reference points to make sure we were placing things like mountains accurately.

Awesome at Addition!

Autumn B - Week 6

This week we have been practicing column addition - take a look!
