Assessing Music at Newburn Manor

Alongside music tuition from Newcastle Music Service, teachers follow the Charanga music school scheme of work at Newburn Manor and deliver a minimum of 30 minutes of music teaching each week.  We assess music with the use of end of year expectations which allow teachers to make an informed decision as to whether or not pupils are at the expected standard for the end of each year group. 

Teachers will assess children's knowledge and skills in the areas of:

•  Listening and appraising
• Composing and Improvising
• Singing, playing and performing
