The Sill Workshop

Rangers from the The Sill came to visit us in preparation for our trip to Ingram Valley. We recapped the main features of a river and learned more about the journey of the River Breamish. Then we got to actually be a river (sort of) to experience what it would be like to transport water from source to the sea.

Bulby's Wood

This term, we headed up to Ingram Valley to investigate a section of the River Breamish as part of our 'Rivers' topic. After wrapping up in our waterproofs, we headed straight into the river to explore its eco-system and identify the organisms that were living in there. Despite a sunny start to the day, a sudden downpour started but it didn't deter Year 4! We continued investigating the river before pausing for lunch. The sun came out again and we dried off just in time for a hike up Brough Law Hillfort. It was a steep climb but we managed to get almost all the way to the top where we had a stunning view of the valley below. Take a look at some photos from our fantastic day outdoors:

Author Visit

This term, we were lucky enough to have a virtual visit from the author of our current favourite class text, Stitch Head. Guy Bass kept us entertained with stories from his childhood and the inspiration behind his books. He also read us some very funny poems with a spooky twist!
