We talked about what happened in each part of the story, how the characters felt and what the tempo, dynamics, pitch and duration might be like and how this might change. We retold each section of the story through using tuned and untuned percussion instruments, voices and body percussion and performed to the class.

School Council Vote
Congratulations to our School Council representatives. After discussion about what the role entails and what qualities we would bring to the position, we prepared speeches and presented them to the class. Children voted for who they wanted to represent the class and I was impressed by the standard of everyone's speeches who took part well done Year 2!
Investigating how to make different amounts of money in various ways.
We have started our money topic and children have been investigating ways they could make different amounts of money. At home, children could practise handling coins and talking about totals and change at the shops and how much each coin is worth.
Welcome back Year 2!
Happy New Year and welcome back everyone. Children have settled in well and have had a very busy first week back with Forest School starting for group 1 (Group 2 will begin in March), Some new topics beginning and new books and we welcome Mrs Sprawling who will be working with us every day. Our PE days continue to be a Wednesday and Thursday (Forest School group will be out Weds am - so they just need their waterproofs and wellies and uniform to change into afterwards). Spellings and phonic books will continue to be given out on a Friday for the following Friday and children can change their colour band books whenever they have read them throughout the week.
TTRS and Lexia log ins should be inside your child's homework book but please just ask if you need a copy as these can really support your child with their times tables and spellings at home. We are all looking forward to a busy and fun half term!
