Please visit the Video Library to watch our Nativity at the church with Year 6.
Rockband
This morning Georgina and the rock band, Hot Shots (from Music Partnership North) came into school to play a selection of festive tunes to get us into the Christmas spirit. We had a wonderful time singing and dancing along to the music.
Christmas Jumper Day
Today was Christmas Jumper Day in school and pupils were able to bring donations for the local food bank. They all looked fantastically festive in their outfits! Here are a few of them next to our Christmas snowman...

Bamboo Tamboo - the performance
The class performed brilliantly today for their Bamboo Tamboo show to the parents and carers. Mrs Gill was very proud of the whole class for giving it their all. Well done Year 5! The children performed their music, added some improvised call and response and created shapes as a team to the music. We had a brilliant Christmas tree, boat and a television!
Bamboo Tamboo
This week Steve and Jay came to work with us on Bamboo Tamboo. We looked at the instruments and found out how to use them. We tried practising different patterns and children had the chance to try out their own patterns in front of their peers. I was very impressed for the first week and look forward to seeing how they progress over the coming weeks. Watch this space…
Odd Socks for Anti-Bullying Week
On Tuesday, the school came in with Odd Socks on to show their support for Anti-bullying week. In school we have been thinking about this year's motto: Choose Respect. We have talked a lot about what a choice is and how we can show respect to one another. Here we are in our odd socks:
Art week
This week in our Art week we are focusing on drawing skills. We looked at the artist Stephen Wiltshire and the amazing city panoramas he creates from memory. The children then copied his style to complete half drawn images of famous buildings.
Maths games
We had a great morning playing different maths games today. In maths we have been thinking about addition and subtraction and trying to do more mentally. Today, Mrs Gill set us off playing Totality and Strike it out. The games involved adding and subtracting mentally but there was also the opportunity to be strategic!

We have had a brilliant first week in Year 5. The class have worked very hard this week and settled well into the new routines. Mrs Gill has been very impressed with their behaviour and looks forward to a year of learning. This week we created an aspiration tree with all of our aspirations for the year. Some pupils want to improve their handwriting, others want to improve the times table recall and some want to move up in the reading scheme. I know that with hard work and dedication, the children will reach their goals by the end of the year.
