Autumn
Christmas Party
We had great fun at our Christmas disco. We played lots of games and even did a catwalk show of our AMAZING Christmas outfits. Thank you for all of the lovely food that was brought from home. We had a real feast this afternoon!
Newburn Activity Centre Class Trip
We had a fantastic time at Newburn Activity Centre. We practised our gymnastics skills on the trampoline and high bars. Newburn Activity Centre has an amazing climbing wall which we able to use. Lola managed to beat the instructor to the top of the wall! In our archery lesson we tried to hit the bulls eye. Some of us were able to pop the balloons attached to the target board. We would recommend a visit to the centre as there are so many different skills to learn and practse.
3D Collage
We used a variety of collage techniques to create firework pictures We twisted, folded, bent and shaped paper to create different 3D effects.

Anti bullying week
Our focus in PSHE today was on anti-bullying week. We had lots of discussions about respecting eachother and our differences, and what to do if we experience or witness bullying. We are looking forward to 'odd socks day' tomorrow to raise awareness of antibullying week in our school.

Science Rocks!
In Year 3 we have been learning all about rocks and soils. As part of being scientists we have been conducting our own practical investigations. We planned our own investigations and talked about how they are fair tests. We made sensible predictions on what we think would happen.
We have been investigating which rocks are permeable and which are not. We investigated which rocks are the strongest and how we know they are the strongest. We have investigated soils and how each soil is different. We can explain how soil is important to all living things.

Stone Age Animals

Making Natural Paint

In the Stone Age, people made their own paint using natural resources. Using these home-made paints they produced amazing cave paintings. We had great fun making our own paints using crushed berries and charcoal.
Stone Age Stencil Art

Stone age cave art focused on everyday life in Stone Age times. Lots of Stone Age animals were drawn. Also discovered by archeologists were strange hand paintings. Stone Age people blew paint to create a stencil effect. We made our own hand stencil and tried to spray paint to create hand art work. In the end we found sponges helped us achieve a better result.
History Topic: Stone Age to the Iron Age.
We have really enjoyed learning about survival in Stone Age times. We looked in the natural surroundings of the school to see if we could find any materials or food which would have been useful to Stone Age people. We found berries and stinging nettles which could have been used for food. We also found lots of wood to make fires to cook food and keep us warm. Some of the stones we found could have been used to make tools and weapons.
