Autumn
PE assessment with the Newcastle PE and Sport Service.
Art - Making Christmas wreaths.
Antarctic Landscapes
In Geography we have been learning about Polar Regions, including the landscapes of Antarctica and the Arctic. Today we used oil pastels to draw an Antarctic landscape, including mountain ranges, sea ice, glaciers and plenty of snow!
Children in Need 2025
As a class, we talked about what Children in Need was and how the charity supports millions of children across the United Kingdom. We wore yellow to show our support and many of us sported Pudsey Bear ears!
We also used our maths skills to find Pudsey Bear's line of symmetry and complete his shape!
Bonfire Night
To celebrate Bonfire Night, we made sparklers using straws, tissue paper and pipe cleaners. Year 2 are ready for a fun and safe Bonfire Night!
The Discovery Museum 23.10.25
Year 2 had an amazing trip to the Discovery Museum today! We started by working in pairs to find all the items on our scavenger hunts, and found out some really interesting facts about science and our local history in Newcastle!
After lunch, we had a workshop on the Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead, linking with our history unit on the Great Fire of London. We found out some really interesting similarities, and performed a puppet show of how the Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead started! We were also able to look at a variety of interesting objects from Victorian England and thought about how life was different in the 1800's.
Harvest Festival 2025
We sang 'Harvest Samba' to celebrate the harvest season with our school, family and friends. We had so much fun learning our harvest song and worked really hard on our singing rounds!
Party Afternoon & World Mental Health Day
We wore yellow today to celebrate World Mental Health Day, and enjoyed our party afternoon as a reward for filling our magic star jar and completing our 100% attendance banner!
The Great Fire of London
In History, we have been developing our knowledge and understanding of the Great Fire of London. This week, we became real historians, observing and comparing different sources of information from the Great Fire and considering what they tell us about the fire, why they're important, and which source we thought told us the most about The Great Fire of London.
Throwing and Catching
In PE we have been developing our fundamental skills. We challenged ourselves to throw a beanbag into a target from different distances, focusing on aim, control and the difference between an overarm and underarm throw.
Friendships and Fights
In PSHE, we have been learning why friends fall out sometimes and how we can fix this when it happens. We acted out different arguments that friends could have and had to fix it in whatever way the rest of the class selected.
Roald Dahl Day 2025
To celebrate Roald Dahl Day on September 13th, we made giant peaches inspired by James and the Giant Peach using different coloured tissue paper.
Welcome back!
As part of our first day back, we enjoyed lots of team building activities. Here we organised shapes by colour and shape, working together to find the groupings. Then we experimented with making pictures by sharing shapes with our team.
