Creating a Guidebook
What makes a place extraordinary, fascinating and magical? We travelled the world with imagination and curiosity to create a guidebook led by the British library. We wrote about places using guidebooks, maps and our own visual creations. Ben Shires led the event and we participated in workshops led by authors Viviane Schwarz and Rashmi Sirdeshpande.
Developing our handball skills with our coach Marlan.
National Festival of Fieldwork
The National Festival of Fieldwork takes place throughout June and we started our fieldwork activities today with a zoom visit with the explorer and geographer Daniel Raven-Ellison and Emma Espley, a consultant to the Geographical Association, who we have worked with in the past. We learned about land use and what are we mis/using earth for? We went out around our local area and explored land use and where we could make a change and why. We enjoyed taking part in all of the activities and using maps of Newburn. We plotted routes and used six figure grid references.
DT Pop up Books
In DT, we explored different pop up books and their mechanisms. We designed and made our own using sliders, rotary, pull tabs, parallel folds, moving arms and wheels and enjoyed investigating various effects and techniques.

The rest of the residential photos can be seen under parents/trips and visits/2025-2026.
