Parent Governor Required
Fri 17 Jan 2020Dear Parents/Carers
We now have a vacancy for a parent governor on the Governing Body, a role which is open to all parents and guardians of children in our school. Being a governor will afford you the opportunity to help shape and guide the progress of Newburn Manor Primary School. It is an important role in the life of our school as Governors work with the Head Teacher and school leaders in setting the overall direction of travel of the school. They are involved in important decisions about student applications to the school, staff appointments, the budget of the school, and expenditure on the premises of the school. They discuss student achievement and support and take an interest in the ways the school is continuing to maintain high standards.
According to our last Ofsted Report, leaders and governors have an accurate and in-depth understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for further development. School leaders and governors have taken the actions needed to ensure that pupils make good progress. It also provided us with areas to develop so that sustained progress and excellence is maintained, and through your assistance, vision and drive as a parent governor this would continue.
A copy of this letter has been sent home with your child along with some further information about being a governor but if you have questions please feel free to contact us. We would really cherish your involvement and would be very open to discussing how you might be able to add your weight to our efforts. Please feel free to email us on admin@newburnmanorprimary.newcastle.sch.uk or contact us through the school office.
If you wish to stand as a candidate for this interesting and challenging position, please return a short statement about yourself (including reasons why you wish to become a school governor and how you can contribute to the work of the governing body) in a sealed envelope to the school office (marked “Parent Governor Application”) to arrive no later than 3 pm on Friday 31 January 2020.
Yours sincerely
Stuart Pickup
Head Teacher
